Excavating a hoard, spot the difference?

Can you spot the difference?

  1. The top pic shows a bloke digging a hoard where he's most probberly getting paid around £10 an hour for and will milk it all week. The bottom pic shows a pic of a bloke digging a hoard and just out enjoying his hobby.

  2. not disagreeing with you as such. Just to me it would be more exciting to find not only the pot but then also how the pot might have been buried etc. I would love to know the story behind the pot. It may well be that no clues could be found but who knows without doing in properly.

If as a hobby we want to be taken seriously in terms of adding to history etc then we can't have it both ways.

  3. Mark the spot...protect it....stop digging and contact the FLO. Seriously, how hard can it be...?

    1. Nah, there was nothing to be gained from a proper excavation, They did superb job..it took them an hour you know! Just another pot of Roman coins.....Oh wait that's exactly what it is now!
A great find with a less than great conclusion.
